Tulip Big Chief
Known for its enormous flowers, Big Chief is a 1959 award winner with big flowers of iridescent rosy-salmon with an exterior silver sheen and a soft yellow base. It is another one of those varieties that defies any one simple description. It looks different in brilliant sunshine than it does in filtered sunlight, and from when its buds first open to when the flowers start to fade away. Tulip Class: Giant Darwin Hybrid. Bulb size: 12 cm/up. Mid-April to May. HZ: 3-7. Height: 24".
