Fritillaria acmopetala

Circa 1874, this Cyprus native has up to three, pendant, bell-shaped flowers per stem with olive-green and burgundy striped exteriors. Appearing like little upturned hats, F. acmopetala prefers rich, well-draining neutral pH soil. This deer- and rodent-resistant heirloom doesn't like being out of the soil, so plant the bulbs immediately upon receipt. You’ll need about nine bulbs per square foot. Bulb size: 6 cm/up. Full to partial sunlight. Bloom time in horticultural zone 5: April/May. Plant 5" to 6" deep and 5" to 6" apart. HZ: 4-8. Height: 20".
