Tulipa acuminata

The Fire Flame or The Turkish Tulip dates back to at least the early 1800s. A prized rare heirloom, it has a wild form with uniquely narrow yellow flower petals variably edged and prominently tipped scarlet. Each flower opens with its pointed petal tips upward-facing and touching, as if in prayer. As the flowers mature, they open to a wonderfully unruly form. Tulip Class: Species. Bulb size: 8/9 cm. HZ: 3-9. April. Height: 14" to 16".

Tulips are The Art & Soul of Spring.
