Collection U: Essential Late Spring Perennials

Dutch show gardens feature an increasingly diverse selection of special miscellaneous bulbs in both formal and free-form, natural designs. Anemone blanda, Chionodoxa, Muscari, and Scilla are often used as floral carpets under contrasting Tulips or Narcissi. Eranthis hyemalis, Galanthus and Oxalis are planted prolifically in meandering woodland drifts. Allium, Brodiaea and Camassia are clustered in substantive drifts among early summer perennials.

Expand the repertoire of summer flowering bulbs with these diverse perennials, each of which are deer- and rodent-resistant, as well as good for cutting.

Estimated planting area: 33 square feet. Bulb size: top size. Bloom time: May-June. Plant 3" to 5" deep and 3" to 4" apart. Horticultural zones: 5-7. Height: 15" to 24".
