Multi-Flowering Festival Hyacinths

More loosely formed with less compact florets than Hyacinthus orientalis, our prized Festival Hyacinths are wonderfully fragrant with up to six flowering stalks per bulb. Reminiscent of the old Roman Hyacinths from southern France (no longer in cultivation), our Festival Hyacinths have a more wild or informal look in the garden than Hyacinthus orientalis. Make sure to plant them in clusters near regularly frequented paths and garden beds so their fragrance can be enjoyed to the fullest. You’ll need about four bulbs per square foot. They make lovely cut flowers and are also very good for forcing indoors over the winter. (Some people may experience an itchy reaction when touching Hyacinth bulbs, so wear protective gardening gloves when handling them. If an area of skin becomes itchy or develops a rash, just wash with soap and water and everything should be fine.) Bulb size: 17 cm/up. Full to partial sunlight. Bloom time in horticultural zone 5: April. Plant 6" deep and 6" apart. HZ: 4-8. Height: 8" to 12".

Hyacinths are The Art & Soul of Spring.
