Fritillaria
A member of the Lily family, Fritillaria are a perennial favorite from yesteryear. Ranging in height from 8" to 36", they are majestic plants with delicate, pendant blooms. They are also much loved for the fact that deer and rodents do not like to eat them! Handle these perishable bulbs with care and plant immediately upon receipt in rich, very well-draining soil. Plant the large Fritillaria bulbs 6" to 7" deep and 8" to 10" apart. Plant the smaller Fritillaria bulbs 5" to 6" deep and 5" to 6" apart. Bloom time: April/May. Variable horticultural zones ranging from 3-8 depending on the variety.
